A person may have swallowing difficulties which is also known as dysphagia. Swallowing difficulties occur in the oral, pharyngeal, or esophageal stages of swallowing. SLP’s are able to evaluate and treat swallowing difficulties so that the patient will be able to maintain safe oral intake for nutrition and hydration. We work with patient, families, staff, and caregivers. There are different assessments and treatment approaches that we utilize to ensure that the patient is able to safely eat and maintain her nutrition.
